D-Day has arrived!

We left at 7:15 this morning, and pulled into the Newport, TN KOA about 3 this afternoon. The trip from NC was uneventful, and we were sure glad that the rock slide on I-40 has been cleaned up enough for a single lane on the west side near the slide. It really sheared the rock and it appears that they are preparing to do some blasting.

The Newport, TN KOA is a small campground -- about 70 campsites. We opted for one with water, electricity, and cable -- no sewer as we're only staying one night (and we're CHEAP!) It has a really nice pool -- but it was closed because it was thundering. As it turned out, we didn't get any rain.

Tomorrow we'll have an easy day -- we're only going 200 miles to Hurdle Mills, TN.
